Lorna is an entrepreneur with a history of successfully building, managing and exiting businesses. Having gained over 25 years of experience in the UK Grocery Market, Lorna is regarded as an expert in the field of retail and product sales. She has worked with many of the UK’s leading brands creating a demonstrable difference to their bottom line.

Lorna has a very clear working principle: People drive success. As such, all of her career has been centered on building, growing and leading great teams. A visionary and inspiring leader, Lorna’s main skills are around motivating people to achieve success they had only previously dreamed off. She firmly believes in the potential of people and that with the right training and guidance everyone can be part of a winning team. Lorna creates companies that people are proud to work for and with.

Lorna is married with three strapping sons and lives in Cheshire. With the very small amount of spare time she has left, Lorna enjoys walking her three dogs in North Wales, likes to keep fit, enjoys skiing and following the success, or otherwise, of Liverpool FC.

Having started her working life at Kellogg’s as a Sales Executive, Lorna worked her way up to Field Sales Manager before moving on to Mars as a Client Manager. At Mars, she soon extended her role into that of National Account Controller. Across these two companies, Lorna managed every major grocery multiple in the country.

While at Mars, Lorna used a number of Field Marketing agencies that, “… never impressed me and I was convinced that I could go back to the basics of having suited and booted sales people that would make a difference on every call and deliver a measurable return on investment for our clients.”

Lorna started Tactical Solutions from her garden shed in 2000, and enjoyed 13 years of profitable growth. Tactical Solutions has always been a market leading agency in its approach to in-store implementation. The unique business model was based around fully employed sales professionals who were trained on a 26-week induction program. As a consequence, Tactical Solutions offered its clients clear product visibility and availability solutions multi channels with a measurable Return on Investment. Data driven and profit fixated, every client was fully aware of the difference that Tactical Solutions made to their product in-store.

Tactical Solutions worked with a significant number of the UK’s major household brands including Heinz, Burtons Biscuits, Innocent, Diageo and Cadbury’s.

Lorna sold Tactical Solutions to the St Ives Group in 2011 and realised very quickly that she couldn’t bring herself to even consider retirement. As a result, Lorna set up and is now Chief Executive Officer of The Mothership Group, a set of service related business that make a real difference in their chosen areas of excellence. The Mothership Group is in the process of launching four new businesses, all focussed around intelligent selling to make a noticeable change in the sector they work in, and a charity called The Mothership Foundation which helps provide investment funding for individuals who would not get any otherwise.

One of these businesses is RedWigWam. RedWigWam is a temporary work booking platform which serves both workers and hirers. There are currently more than 85,000 workers registered on the site and that number is growing daily! The site will match workers to jobs in their area that require the skills they have and workers can book whichever jobs they wish.

Lorna is an experienced Chairman and uses her business skills to help boards develop and grow exciting businesses that are driven by bottom line performance.
